Sound Equipment

Luis Rivas Santana

Multimedia Producer

I am a multimedia producer and musician passionate about audiovisual arts. My professional background in visual communications using several tools of video production, audio/music production, photography, and graphic design has given me a competitive approach to the demanding industry where video has become a fundamental way to communicate a message throughout different platforms.

I got my degree as an audio engineer in 2003 at the Taller de Arte Sonoro in my hometown Caracas, Venezuela. There, not only I learned the art of sound, but I also studied video production which drove me to be a 'forever student' eager to build my academic foundations while I acquired experience to stay in tune with the latest video trends. Parallel to this, I learned other skills through continued coursework and certifications.

The hunger for learning and determination to turn knowledge into action has contributed to achieving national and international recognition such as the Promax BDA from Los Angeles, California as an Audio Engineer, and Ascenso Film Festival where I got 2 awards as director and for writing my first story  "The journey that changed our lives"

These years of experience also allowed me to work out of my country borders, taking me to approximately 15 countries around the world on different projects with professionals of different nationalities. It's been a journey of valuable endless learning that brought me to Washington DC in 2016 to be part of the Inter American Development Bank.

As a new challenge, I learned about the diversity of Washington DC and I had my first contact with the professional American culture.

Proactivity and teamwork contributed to the most recent success at the Interamerican Development Bank, where I vastly improved productivity by implementing strategic methods that reduced the operating costs dramatically of our unit.
I am currently working as a freelance multimedia producer, music producer of my heavy metal project Lyonen and always interested in a new challenge.

Over the course of my career, I used what I have learned and worked to continuously improve myself.

TAS is the first audio institution created in Latin America, and in 1990, the A.E.S. (Audio Engineering Society) selected TAS as the Venezuelan permanent section for the most prestigious and important organization of audio professionals in the world.

My award-winning Short Film

In 2011 I wrote my own story based on the events that occurred in my work journey in South America during the year 2010. The story was shown at the Ascenso Film Festival in Jun 2011 and it won  2 awards, the best video of the whole festival and the best script in the air category. Always thankful to the Ascenso staff and directors who encouraged me to participate and write my transformation process.
